Today: World Day For Natural Disaster Reduction....Gotta say that one sounds a tad bit pointless.... I mean, can we really reduce natural disasters? But it seems this is actually a day to get national leaders to focus on building communities which are less vulnerable to the effects of natural disasters.
It is Double Tenth Day ( 10-10 ) or, Bonza Bottler Day. As interesting as that might be, I think tomorrow's date is more impressive (10-11-12).
World Mental Health Day is today. It also happens to be Bring Your Teddy Bear To Work Day. If that doesn't improve your mental health, I don't know what will!
Of course, there has to be something yummy on the menu everyday...today is National Angel Food Cake Day.
Today is Tuxedo Day...the day when the Monkey Suit was first worn in the U.S. It was the year 1886. So, go ahead and take your Teddy Bear to work in style. If you don't happen to have a tuxedo-clad-bear, you can get one here. It's on sale.
In 1892, Earle Dickson was born. He invented Band-Aids for his wife, who had frequent kitchen accidents, cutting or burning herself. He worked as a buyer for Johnson & Johnson, who soon began manufacturing Band-Aids.
Soap operas were discovered on this date in 1932. The shows, "Betty and Bob" and "Judy and Jane" were first aired on the radio on this date. They sure came up with great names back then!
